What matters to the 15s30m co-founders Dan & Rachel?

Rachel Pilling (aka Miss Spectacular), what matters to you?

A GOOD DAY IS WHEN…

I’ve helped someone find a way to unblock their frustration. I used to spend the time unblocking it for them – I’m a “well lets get this done” sort of person – but I’ve learnt that it’s more rewarding for everyone if you help people help themselves.

I KNOW I’VE MADE A DIFFERENCE WHEN…

You hear people sharing the advice you’ve given them – when your words or ideas are being passed on to someone else.  The only way to make the size of change we need in health is to train the trainers, be they medical staff, nursing staff, administrators, or patients.

I CHOSE TO WORK IN HEALTHCARE BECAUSE…

I’m really not cut out to sit still all day. My attention span matches that of my patients so it works well.

THE MOST MEANINGFUL PART OF MY JOB IS…

Watching children and their families grow; seeing children fulfill their potential and flourish.

I FEEL PROUD AT WORK WHEN…

Staff are empowered to make change, take their first steps in quality improvement by identifying what could be done differently and asking how they might be the one to do it.

WHAT MATTERS TO ME AT WORK IS…

Ensuring those around me feel happy in their work; that everyone is able to feel that their day has been rewarding.

Dan Wadsworth (aka Super-Dan), what matters to you?

A GOOD DAY IS WHEN…

I’ve ticked off all my red flags / to do’s off my list and made at least one person smile.

I KNOW I’VE MADE A DIFFERENCE WHEN…

A change I helped implement has sustained. When someone goes out of their way to thank me in person for supporting them.

I CHOSE TO WORK IN HEALTHCARE BECAUSE…

A hospital is where people experience extreme emotions; be that the birth of their baby, a lifesaving operation or the passing of a loved one. To be part of that and help improve services so that patients have positive experiences and improved care is what makes a healthcare job important to me.

THE MOST MEANINGFUL PART OF MY JOB IS…

During the 15s30m workshops, seeing people’s eyes light up and the nodding of their heads because they ‘get it’ and can’t wait to do a 15s30m mission. Changing the culture of the NHS to make changes for the greater good.

I FEEL PROUD AT WORK WHEN…

Reading the comments of the family and friends feedback, especially when they praise the Dr, Nurse or Receptionist for their positive experience.

WHAT MATTERS TO ME AT WORK IS…

That people continue to do something for someone else, if we all did this imagine how much joy in work that would bring? It matters to me that people work as imagined and don’t just continue to work as done.
